Memento Park is a statue park located on the outskirts of Budapest. It is an open air museum where the monuments and statues of Hungary’s Communist past have been taken. It is in this field where these monuments representing some of Hungary’s darkest days stand quietly aging.

Inspired by this quiet and eeri park, I photographed these crumbling monuments. Creating a zine contrasting the photography with the famous poem by Illyés Gyula “Egy  mondat a zsarnokságról”.  In which the poet describes the hoplessness and isolation that was a reality in the everyday life of Hungarians during the Communist regime, which is very much mirrored by the park even today.
